Upstate Mental Wellness exists to bring a total wellness focus to the Upstate of South Carolina.  The goal of our group is to provide services to children, adolescents, families, and individuals in need of counseling services.  We use an eclectic approach to help our clients address their issues.

We strive to bring total wellness in as brief a time as possible.

Our approach is empathetic talk therapy which incorporates multiple therapeutic interventions such as Family Systems, Marital (or  Pre-marital), Contextual, Cognitive/Behavioral, Solution Focused, Attachment Focused, and Rational Emotive therapies.  Additionally, we seek to incorporate the faith of the clients along with aspects of spiritual formation such as prayer, Bible study, worship, service, small groups, and other spiritual interventions, BUT ONLY if desired by the client.

Rachel Hutchinson, CPT, EIM, CHC
Wellness Coach

Lorene Hutchinson is a licensed professional counselor and licensed school psychologist who has 25 years experience working with children, adolescents, families, and couples.  She uses an eclectic approach to therapy and will assess each case to determine the best way to address each client's personal issues with an understanding that many issues require a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective.  She was trained with a psychodynamic bent but values parts of many theories and those that align with a Christian faith.  However, spiritual interventions are only available to those that desire it.

Having earned her Master's in Clinical Psychology (Illinois State University), Ed.S. in School Psychology (University of South Florida), and Doctorate in Education (Liberty University), she has a unique perspective on mental health which incorporates psychoeducational training with each client.  She is currently pursuing her second doctorate in Clinical Psychology (California Southern University) to help meet the needs of those struggling with more severe difficulties of personality and mental health.

She enjoys working with couples and individuals to address their unique needs as well as children and college aged students in need of psychoeducational evaluations to assist in their pursuit of their educational goals.

Rachel is a certified personal trainer and Exercise is Medicine (EIM) trained professional in health and wellness.  She earned her Exercise Science degree from North Greenville University in 2017.  She is very interested in nutrition and is constantly educating herself in new techniques to help clients reach their highest potential.

Coaching people toward healthy living is her passion.  She has a lot of energy and desire to help clients meet their personal health goals knowing physical health is important for mental health.  Rachel understands the importance of nutrition, good sleep hygiene, physical exercise, and mental wellness for optimal health.  She strives to help her spiritual clients embrace their purpose.  She comes alongside clients to address the biological component of what makes clients human.
